Mauro Roberto Scalabroni
Mauro photographs the sea as if it were a memory. Born in Romania and based on Italy's Adriatic coast in the Marche region, he captures beach sunsets and coastal horizons in soft, saturated color, then refines each image digitally until it sits somewhere between photograph and dream. His work is instantly recognizable: pastel skies, still water, and a light that feels too gentle to be entirely real.
About Mauro Roberto Scalabroni
Mauro Roberto Scalabroni grew up drawing. Art, he has said, was always important to him. So was nature. The two were never separate.
Born in Romania in 1989, Scalabroni was raised on the Adriatic coast of Italy. He walks the shoreline in the early morning hours, looking for light in its most transient states. He shoots what he finds. Then he works into each photograph by hand, applying pastel filters with the precision of a painter who knows exactly what he is after.
His practice is rooted in observation and personal touch. Every image is his own, from the moment of capture to the final result. The work does not announce itself. It holds a quality of light that most people walk past without noticing.
Scalabroni began sharing his images on social media almost by accident. The response was immediate. He has since built a practice that moves between photography and image-making, always with nature at its centre.
Mauro Roberto Scalabroni (he/his) was born in Romania in 1989 and lives and works in Italy.
"Nature is wonderful. We have to know how to look at it with the right vision, through art."
