About this work Plus

A lone horse stands beneath an Icelandic sky charged with red. The ground is dark. The air feels heavy, almost electric. There is no context for the colour, no obvious source. It simply exists, as though the landscape itself has shifted into a different register.

Sasha Elage made this image in a single exposure, without any digital alteration. The red light is real, shaped in-camera using physical materials placed in front of the flash. It is a method rooted not in technology but in instinct, a practice closer to painting than to conventional photography. The horse, solitary and still, appears almost displaced from time.

What emerges is an image that resists easy reading. It is not a document of Iceland. It is the record of a moment when the visible world seemed to buckle, briefly, into something else.

“For a few seconds, I didn’t feel like I was looking at reality anymore.”

Printed to museum-quality standards, the edition is produced on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 gsm cotton paper using archival pigment inks. All materials are acid-free and OBA-free, ensuring exceptional depth, texture, and longevity.

How a release works Plus

We release limited editions that are fixed in quantity, meaning we will only ever produce a specific number of prints or sculptures. In the case of time-limited editions, the artwork is available for a set period, and the final edition size is determined by how many pieces are sold during that window. Once that time frame ends, no more will be made, making each piece truly exclusive.

Upon arrival, each piece will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
